I’ve contributed once, then lost track of URLs and submission spots. The current call for submissions involves Women in Literature, a topic on which I have far too many potential posts in my head.
I will submit something, of course, if I can narrow it down. That’s partly why I’m posting this today: to remind myself and not lose the link again.
If I can narrow it down. I just need to focus.
El.
Oh.
El.
Fifteen days left in the semester. “Focus” is not in strong supply.
Ideas — ones you don’t want for yourself, at any rate? I’m thinking about maybe writing about being a woman teacher of literature (among other types of reading and writing competencies), attitudes — among students, parents, some other teachers, and Dear fucking God, the politicians and testing people — and the idea that analyzing and evaluating literature is both less academically rigorous and less important than are, say, math skills or science knowledge or computer competencies or whatever, maybe because literature is now pretty strongly coded as a “woman’s” pursuit.
And I will consider that one brainstorming session accomplished — and so will go to bed. Because I have totally been caught up on my semester grading for a full… three minutes, yo.
