If My Vagina Could Talk

It would express disappointment that only “vulvodynia” was explicated as a cause of painful intercourse when issues like yeast and BV, STIs, vaginismus, and endometriosis can all cause it as well — particularly when the other issues come with more nuanced explanations.

Especially since the other possible causes of painful intercourse are so easily addressed!

    • Jessie says:

      and so common.

    • Tori says:

Well, some of them — most instances of yeast infections, bacterial vaginosis, and STIs — are easily addressed. Some, like endo and vaginismus, not so much — but all the more reason people should have the knowledge background to be able to start considering them early, if applicable.

  2. This is kind of nitpicking, but I feel like “can’t and should not want to [get rid of natural smell]” should be “can’t and should not try to”. Not an issue for me, but for people who do have those feelings, I don’t think it’s helpful to tell them that their feelings are wrong.

Also, while we’re talking about getting rid of things–not pulling out your pubic hair is so weird now that we can’t even have pubic hair in a clinical drawing anymore?

    • Tori says:

You know, the lack of pubic hair never even registered for me. I’m so used to seeing drawings of vulvae without it.

Which is weird, because, erm — mine does not look like the picture.
